An IV Curve is the measurement of leakage/ionization current at pre-selected voltage levels using the high resistance meter. The CHAR System includes a separate IV Curve program that provides the capability to perform I/V curve tests commonly performed on nuclear instrumentation detectors at voltages up to 1000 Vdc. For example, the IV Curve is used to measure neutron detector current while applying a voltage of incremental levels in a Nuclear Instrumentation System. This test can be used for trending the "gas" volume sensitivity of neutron detectors. |

| CHAR Services also provides equipment that allows the utility to obtain a High Voltage IV Curve. This equipment, configured to operate with the CHAR System PC Controller, can be operated as a stand-alone test. This additional instrument module contains the Keithley 248 High Voltage Supply and the Keithly 485 PicoAmmeter that will extend the maximum voltage from 1000 to 5000 volts, with a 5 mA maximum current limitation. | ||||||||||

The IV Curve data is maintained in the WinCharm database. The software comes pre-configured with standard IV Curve cycles that are most frequently used and sufficient capability within the system allows for operator configuration of test voltage and dwell time parameters. After recording the IV Curve data, the test configuration is stored in the database for recording future comparison data and trending. Like the standard CHAR baseline fingerprint, selecting the equipment ID is sufficient to provide the operator with additional setup instructions. Reports are provided to automatically compare the current data to existing baseline data. |
